DIY- Honey Buttermilk Face Mask

diy facemask self selfcare skincare

Have you ever wondered why beauty companies include milk in their products? Milk has been used for beauty rituals since Cleopatra was pictured in the bathtub taking a milk bath. Milk contains Lactic Acid which gently exfoliates the skin leaving it brighter, tighter with smaller pores and skin that GLOWS.

Here's an easy Honey & Buttermilk Face Mask Recipe

Here's what you'll need

  • 2 tablespoons of powdered buttermilk (you can get this at your local grocery store, I prefer powdered over liquid as it helps the mask gel better with the honey)
  • 2 tablespoons of Raw Honey (Use Manuka honey if you really want to increase the antibacterial benefits or if you want to treat cystic acne)
  • Small bowl for mixing
  • A spoon or small whisk

Directions

If you live in a colder climate your honey may be very thick. Place the honey in the microwave for 10 seconds to increase the viscosity. Add the honey and buttermilk in a bowl. Mix well until a paste forms. Apply all over face. Let mask sit for ten minutes and rinse with cool water to seal your pores shut. You can even apply this mask to the bikini area or underarms to lift pigmentation and soothe ingrown hairs.

dButtermilk is a dairy product so if you're vegan or allergic to dairy you want to stay away from this recipe. You can also add your favorite essential oils to this recipe and make it a spa like experience at home. If you've never done a face mask like this before do a patch test. Simply take some of mask and apply it to a small area on your hand or arm. If after 5-10 minutes no allergic reaction occurs then its probably safe to use on your skin. While this is edible please keep it away from children and animals.
